The Sunset Sky

Sunset Sky
Sunset Sky

When days go by feeling all the same,

With hope seeming ever so bleak,

Take heart, my friend, don’t cry,

Just look at the sunset sky!

The day may be drawing to a close,

Yet it goes away in all its grandeur.

With hues of crimson and gold,

Oh the stories the skies told!

Like the ever changing sky,

Life doesn’t always remain the same,

Maybe these days are tough,

There will be ones that are not so rough.

Be grateful for the little things,

That you once took for granted.

It is okay, not to be okay,

Be strong, there will be a better day!

It is okay to do things at your own pace,

Even the sunset takes time.

Don’t think about the mistakes of the past,

Or worry about the future and be aghast.

Look at the horizon, at the setting sun,

Celebrate with the sky as its grandeur it displays.

Don’t worry about things, the why and how,

Embrace this moment, here and now.

From the time I’ve been working from home because of Corona, a fairly regular thing that I’ve been doing is taking a walk on my terrace in the evening. I try taking a walk when it almost time for the sunset and I just love watching the sky at sunset. It brings about a sense of peace and just makes me happy. The images at the beginning of this post are some of the pictures I clicked during my walks on my phone. I have a fairly large collection of them now! And these images inspired me to write a poem and here it is.

So yes, these walks are something that I look forward to everyday! What is the one thing that you look forward to each day in these times of lockdown?

It is okay not to be okay. And yet, we will be okay if we are mindful, and embrace the here and now the best we can.
