The door of my dreams

Often I dream of a door,
On the other side of which,
I believe lay my dreams and more,
That are always out of my reach.
Each time it is a different thing,
But it is always something that I long for.
The wishes and desires,
That I always hope would be true someday.
Sometimes it is a loved one,
Not gone forever, but still with me.
Sometimes it is those friendships,
That I thought were lost.
Often it is the solitude I seek,
The peace amidst the chaos of everyday,
Those beautiful places where I wish to be,
That time when everything is alright.
Sometimes it is all the things,
That I want to be, but I’m not.
And at times it is everything I can be,
But I’ve never tried enough.
I’ve always wondered what lay beyond,
When I see the door of my dreams,
But I now look at it for real,
I tell myself it is just a dream.
And now, I stand here,
Wondering if I should knock,
What lays beyond I wonder,
Should I stay or walk?
I wonder if it is a trap,
For I’m afraid of things going wrong.
Will the door ever open I wonder,
Oh maybe I must find a key.

I could barely look away from the pic. Your verses are just as beautiful.

Thank you Soumya!
Such a beautiful, positive, yet intriguing post, Reema! Great start to my morning
Thank you Prateek. I’m glad you liked this.
Reema, what can I say? Your poem is so beautiful and moving! I could relate to it as if it were my own story. You are so good at poetry…and you know you inspire me to keep at it even when I think I’m no good at it. I will join in this week. I LOVE the prompt and it will be a shame if I let it go by without writing a poem on it. Will join before the weekend gets over, for sure.
Thanks for linking up with us for #wordlesswednesday this week. See you again. 🙂
Have a lovely weekend, Reema.
Thank you Esha! I’m glad you liked my poem. Looking forward to reading your take on the prompt.
