What have we done? #WednesdayVerses

What have we done

I feel lost in this world,

A world which I once thought was beautiful,

For I donโ€™t recognize it anymore,

And the evils that today it stands for.

Why have we built walls that divide,

When we can all stand united?

Why have we sown seeds of hatred and discord,

Instead of nurturing peace and harmony?

Where are kindness, compassion and love,

In this world darkened by terrorism and war?

Where are innocence and laughter,

Have we buried them so deep, never to see them hereafter?

What have we done with the world?

Letโ€™s break walls that divide,

And build bridges of peace.

Let us keep our differences aside,

Let all this violence cease.

Why have we forgot to be human,

Why are we repeating the mistakes of the past?

Can we bring a ray of sunshine,

To this world for which hope seems to be lost?

Can we sow the seeds of love among all,

Nurture it with the virtue of patience.

Water it with tolerance for our differences,

And let peace bloom in this world of ours.

    Beautifully expressed, Reema!
We have so ruined the world today..wonder what lies ahead if we fail to change our ways!

  2. Shilpa Garg says:

Truly feel the anguish your words express at the state of affairs of our world.
Hope peace and happiness prevails soon… real soon.

  3. Shalzmojo says:

Yes this poem aptly speaks my mind too at present. I have been too disturbed and distracted to think straight these days. Pure hooliganism by the govt who is stepping u p the atrocities day by day. So much fake news- dont know which side is right!

    Very well expressed Reema!

  4. Modern Gypsy says:

Youโ€™ve beautifully expressed the current scenario, Reema. The hatred and majoritarianism spread by this government, if allowed to run rampant, will take this country down a very dark path. I can only hope this awakening will help us to alter course.

  5. Kala Ravi says:

Reema you have poignantly expressed what we are all feeling, helplessness. Our lives have been needlessly complicated by prejudices and fights created by vested interests. The strife never ends, does it? And if it does, the next wave comes in.
