Tell me O Dream-catcher #WednesdayVerses

I step into another year,

Hoping that it is going to be better.

I stare at the dream-catcher that’s near,

Wondering if it knows any better.

O dream-catcher, tell me,

Will good dreams come my way,

Will I be set free,

From the snare of nightmares that come my way?

Will you protect me from all that is bad,

Of those nightmares that scare me,

Can you drive away all the fears I’ve had,

And let me be free?

Often I’ve faltered, put down by my own fear,

Will this year be any good?

Will the path to my goals be now clear,

Or will I still remain where I once stood?

“Sleep now my child”, it says,

“I’ll drive away the bad dreams you’ve had,

But you must be strong through difficult days,

For it is in your power to make days good or bad”

“Your nightmares are often within you,

Tell yourself you are strong, you’ll be alright.

You are stronger than you ever knew,

Sleep now, for tomorrow you’ll awaken stronger to fight!”

    Well written Reema!

  2. It’s interesting to read different ideas inspired by the dreamcatcher. The act of dreaming seems universal; I wonder if “good dreams” and “bad dreams” share elements across cultures? Or what other traditional remedies might exist for staving off nightmares? If you’re interested in the origin and traditional construction of a dreamcatcher, see https://www.newworldencyclopedia.org/entry/Dreamcatcher

    • Yes, it is interesting. I read a few articles about the dreamcatcher before writing this post and I was intrigued. So many different ideas, yet there is always something common. Thanks for reading this poem.
