#WednesdayVerses : My New Year Resolutions
At midnight, when the clock struck,
Announcing another year,
It wished myself good luck,
To make my resolutions without any fear!
To write more and read even more,
To exercise and get fit,
To go to places I’ve never been before,
These are quite ambitious, I admit!
Its been ten days since,
Write and read, I did.
But I now wince,
For to exercise, goodbye I bid!
As I list down the places I want to go,
I find a list of the year before.
A list of places, I never did go,
With anguish, all the lists I tore.
I decided never to make a resolution again,
I’d just do things better than before.
Resolutions to me seem like a pain,
I’ll take the year as it comes, with everything that’s in store!

As part of our resolution to write more poetry in 2018, Vinay and I have started this weekly prompt which we’ve decided to call as Wednesday Verses. Each Wednesday, we’ll be writing a poem based on the prompt of the week, and sharing a linky. We invite you all to join us with your own poems on the prompt. Write on your blogs, and link up with #WednesdayVerses. We are happy to have you rhyme with us. Welcome!
Prompt #1 is Resolutions in a verse.

Resolutions feel like chores at times. π That doesn’t work for me. I’m happy to be guided by a word and some places to meet those targets.
Hope your 2018 goes well, and in verse too. π Here’s to our new poetic effort, and it’s success. Cheers, Reema!
Yes, I agree! My only resolution hereafter is going to be becoming better – at my own pace, in my own style!
Cheers to you too Vinay!
I prefer goals or intentions. I find resolutions are easy to break. Lovely poem! π
Resolutions are indeed a pain. A nice initiative by both of you. Good luck.
Oh gosh how I relate!β€οΈ I feel we spend too much time concentrating on setting goals rather than accomplishing them. How wise of you to embrace the moment and take everything as it comes. Beautifully expressed!β€οΈ
Lots of love,
Sanaa
[…] this in a while. Here is the first creative product of 2018. It is a link up to Leo’s and Reema’s […]
Reema, we all feel the same way about Resolutions π Poor them… Great poem.
This is the best post on resolutions. So poetic and making sense too.
Wish you luck in all of them.pls pass me some talent for the rhymes.
Going with the flow does seem less stressful loved the way you have put your dilemma in words. Hope you get to visit all the new places you wanted to.
I always make resolutions but how many do I actually fulfill? I don’t know. But I will try to write a poem for next week’s #WednesdayVerses.
Itβs so much better that way, isnβt it? To take each day as it comes and to try to do better each day!
