In search of treasure #WTFOW
While living life each day,
Something seemed missing.
Nothing good came my way,
I felt I had achieved nothing.
On a journey I set out,
To find the treasures that I’d missed so far.
For I didn’t know what my life was about,
I looked out for my guiding star
Throughout the journey I searched,
But I found nothing on my way.
The sun’s heat left me scorched,
And then I felt life going away.
And then in those difficult moments,
I remembered the treasures I had.
The memories came back in fragments,
And life didn’t seem so bad.
There were so many things,
That I could do.
I was given wings,
To fly high and pass through.
I had the warmth of love,
Which my loved ones gave.
But I was so busy looking above,
To the world’s riches, I’d become a slave.
I could still walk back,
Though the journey would be long.
Nothing I did lack,
The treasures were with me all along.
I am taking part in The Write Tribe Festival of Words #6.
The prompt for Day 1 is Write about a treasure you have
Very insightful. The treasures we have are with us all along, we just need to realize that!
Very true. We take the little treasures of our life for granted, and go chasing after stars.
Beautiful thought and very nice rhyme. 🙂 Yes, some treasure is always within us as memory. 😀
Lovely rhythmic words
Correctly said Reema, the treasures are always around or within us. But we are busy rising high that we often miss to look aside.
Beautiful poem,Reema. True that. Often we search in others while we have what we truly want.
When we find the treasures inside us, that’s when we become wealthy in all it’s meaning. Beautiful poem.
A poem very well written, Reema. We get busy aiming for materialistic things and lose ourselves in the race. And then we realise we had held our treasure within always and we were actually looking outside in vain.
Warmth if love is our true treasure. I think so too.
How beautiful, Reema. The treasure that we look for but it is just near us but we can’t see it. Very evocative:)
Beautifully expressed. Your poetry is soulful and insightful.
lovely poem. well said indeed.
