#AtoZChallenge :Friday I’m in love
Do you know what is the most difficult thing for me to do? Any guesses?
Yes, it is to wake up on a Monday and go to work! Story of our lives, isn’t it?
The way I see the days of the week is like this :
Monday – 5 days till the weekend
Tuesday – 4 days till the weekend
Wednesday – 3 days till the weekend
Thursday – 2 days till the weekend
Friday- Its Friday!
Yes, I don’t see Saturdays and Sundays because they go by in blur. We work throughout the week waiting for the weekend. After all the hard work or the hardly any work that we during the week, Fridays are welcome guests!
Friday mornings I wake up with a smile. Fridays are days to wrap up work early and head out. Because Fridays are days to party. Because Fridays are days to pack up and leave for that weekend getaway!
I wake up even before my alarm begins to ring. I brush my teeth, I bathe and even before the clock strikes 8, I’m off to work. Such are the things that Fridays can do to you. After the period of trainings that made me work on Saturdays too, this is the first two day weekend! There are so many things that I want to do! I want to go to the new Italian place which is just a 10 minutes walk from where I stay. I also want to do some shopping. But I really don’t know what to do.
I could just go back to my room and pick up a book and read. A good choice, yes! But it is Friday- my first Friday of freedom and I don’t want to let it go by without making it memorable. As I’m wondering what to do, there is a group conversation that has started. My training buddies are planning for the evening.
“Hi guys, let us plan something for the weekend”
“Suggest what we can do!”
“Let us go bowling”
“Dude, it will be too crowded”
“Okay no bowling!”
“Hey don’t rule it out just like that!”
“Okay, what else can we do?”
“But it is too late now to book for the evening!”
I do not reply because I don’t really know what to suggest! And yeah, I don’t want to sound uncool.
“First tell me how many of you are in!”
Then follows a string of “Yes” and “No”. Also “Depends on what we are doing”
Should I say yes or no!
“Alana? What about you?”
I type “Yes” and then hit backspace and then type “No” and do the same! This goes on for a while!
“Alana! Just say “Yes” or “No””
Followed by some angry emojis.
I take a deep breath. It is Friday and I got to make it legend-wait for it-dary!
I type “Yes”
“Finally Her Majesty replies!”
“Okay, so there is this place I know. We could dance for a while and then head out to play some games and eat some yummy food. Plus it is not too far from here!”
“Sounds perfect! So the plan is on!”
Dancing? I freak out! I’m someone born with two left feet. I can’t dance. Mostly I’ll step, trip and fall and give everyone something to laugh about. And now I’m dreading the evening.
Evening comes and we head out. Everyone begins to dance but I’m standing in the corner because I don’t want to dance! When my friends ask me I say I’ve a headache and just settle down on the couch in the corner. But when I look at everyone dancing, I feel that I’m missing out on something! They are having so much fun. So the next time when they come to ask me to join them, I hesitate initially but then say just for 5 minutes!
I go there and just begin to make myself comfortable, start moving left and right (my knowledge of dancing is limited to the dances I danced in primary school) and try not to make it awkward. Slowly I go with the flow and I begin to enjoy it. Dancing is a wonderful stress buster! Maybe that is the thing about life, sometimes you just have to let yourself lose and go with the flow.
After dancing, we spend some time playing Truth or Dare until the food arrives. This is so much fun! But the moment the food arrives, we gobble it up for we are so hungry after all that dancing!
This Friday was really amazing! No need to head to work tomorrow! Friday, I’m in love with you!
I’m participating in the #AtoZChallenge . I’m writing about the Life and Times of a Twenty something.
