5 reasons why I love my blog

Love my blog
I take on the baton of Blog Love from Mahek
“If there is a place that I can call my own, apart from the one that I call my home, it is my second home- my blog.”
Being someone who scribbled poetry and short stories on any book or piece of paper that I managed to find, I always lost them. Some time later when I would think about what I wrote and then frantically search for it, I wouldn’t find it. I don’t know how many poems I lost this way! But I’m not complaining because it was this carelessness of mine that made my friends discover my love for writing especially writing poetry and motivated me to write more. That is another story and I’ll tell you some other day. Like I said earlier, I always ended up losing the stuff that I wrote.
Then one fine day, when I was discovering the wonders that this thing called the Internet could do, I read about something called a blog. I was fascinated but I didn’t start one until I was supposed to create one for my college assignment. Since that day, I have found my constant best friend – my blog.
1. I love my blog because it is my space, my world where I can express myself
When I first began writing, I wrote to express myself. I had these moments of joy and sorrow which made me write poems. Once I started my blog, that was where most of the poems. I didn’t care about what anyone would think about them, I simply wrote. This holds true even now. I write to share my thoughts, my emotions and the many works of my imagination. I love my blog because it is that one place where I can be myself because it is my place. It is the place which has most of the things that I’ve written.
2. I love my blog because it has helped me grow as a writer
When I first started my blog I just wrote poetry or rants and I just wrote them for myself. I never really ventured into things that I hadn’t previously tried. But thanks to my blog and blogging, I began to try different forms of writing. I had never tried fiction, let alone flash fiction. Now Flash Fiction is of my favourite things to write. From those poems which had just words and emotion but no structure whatsoever to writing rhymed poetry and experimenting different types of poetry, I have come a long way. I love my blog for making me a better writer.
3. I love my blog because of the readers that it has given me
When you write for yourself, you write only when you feel like. Some times you may tend to become lazy. But if I don’t post anything on my blog for a while, I have people who ask me why I haven’t written something of late. My blog has given me readers who push me to write more and write better.
4. I love my blog because of the friends I’ve made through my blog
My blog hasn’t just given me readers, but it has given me friends. I have come across a lot of fellow bloggers thanks to my blog. These blogger friends have helped to improve, corrected me when I didn’t do something right, motivated me and infused me with confidence when I thought I had Writer’s block and couldn’t write. They are not just friends now, they are my blogging family. I love my blog for all the wonderful bloggers I got to know.
5. I love my blog for being my identity
A lot of my friends and colleagues now know me as the girl who blogs. I may have changed the name of my blog yet my blog has become my identity. If not for my blog. I wouldn’t be a blogger. I love my blog for what it has made me.
Are you a blogger too? Why do you love your blog? Or why do you love anything that you love? Let me know.
I pass on the baton of Blog Love to Kala.
