5 hobbies that I love

Hobbies that I love

It is easy to get stuck in the rut of our daily routines. We may or may not be happy with what we do. But if we have hobbies and are able to make some time for our hobbies then yes you day will soon be converted into awesome. Hobbies make our lives interesting, help us relax and unwind. I had a lot of hobbies as a kid but as I grew up that list has been reduced. Yet, there are a lot of different hobbies that I pursue.

1.Reading
I love to read. Reading has always been on my list of hobbies from that time I learned to read. My dad was a voracious reader and from the time that I was 3 or 4 years of age, he used to get me books and magazines. The days when he used to come back with a book were the best days. As I grew up, books have been my constant companions. Most of the times, I carry a book in my bag. The reason I love to read is because it takes me to a different world. Reading helps me better my imagination. Even now reading is my most loved hobby. After a long day at work, it is reading that I resort to to unwind. And on weekends I always have something to do because there is so much to read and so little time.

2.Writing
I’ve been writing regularly for some time now. This hobby started off as just scribbling my thoughts and the way I felt about things. Then blogging happened. Now, writing is an integral part of my life. Writing helps me to clear my mind. It helps me put out my thoughts. And yes when my day seems boring, creating a story about an interesting day adds a dose of entertainment. Thinking about how things could have been, creating various scenarios in my mind and also putting out a few tit bits of daily life makes me want to write each.

3.Music
I love music. Be it listening to music, singing or even playing the keyboard. Music makes ones daily life interesting. I love music because it makes me feel better. I keep humming some tune a lot of times. These days I don’t listen to music as much as I used to, but yes I still loved music.

4.Walking
I like walking, especially taking random walks with no destination in mind. I love walking in natural surroundings. Early morning walks among the lush greenery, the cool breeze is the best start to my day. It is relaxing and brings out the positive vibes. Sadly these days all the walking that I do is walking to and from office. I love the walking part but not the surroundings. And yes, beach walks are the best.

5.Sports
I used to play sports from the time that I was in school. Though I wasn’t too much into sports then, I still loved to play whenever we had our games periods in school. I was the jack of all but master of none! After joining college, I barely had time to play. But my internship period and the first few months of me joining work were the best for me in terms of sports. I picked up a new game and I used to play it regularly. Again, work has left me with no time for playing any sport these days. It is now reduced to the occasional tournaments and the practice for the tournaments. But yes I’m trying to workout a schedule to accommodate sports as well. I’ve played different sports like Volley Ball, Badminton, Table Tennis and Net Ball. And I love sports for the lessons they teach, for the fun they give and most importantly sports help maintain a healthy personality.

So these are the 5 hobbies that I love. What are you hobbies? What do you enjoy doing the most in your free time? Do let me know.

You are multi-talented! I heard you singing in that video on FB. I wasn’t in a situation to comment then. You sing so well! And I don’t have to say about your writing. I just love all the topics you choose and the way you are consistent with writing *touchwood*.

My hobbies are pretty much the same except sports. 🙂

  3. I have never been into sports, but yes reading is definitely on the top of my list too……:)

  4. So many bloggers seem to share the same hobbies – reading, writing, walking, photography and listening to/playing music. I have most of these hobbies, too. Add in crocheting, although I don’t do as much as I used to.

  5. Wow! Those are such diverse interests. I;m with you on reading, writing, music and walking but sports is something I only wish I’d played. I never really was good at any of them.

Wow! You are super cool with all those fun things to do in leisure. I also love to read, write and walk in natural surroundings. Music is something I listen while cooking or getting ready. It has a calming effect on me. I also love to take care of my plants and then edit Wikipedia when ever I get time. 🙂 I wish I played some sports. :/

We share common interests except sports. I love watercolour paintings. I have tried but realized that I am really bad. 🙂

In reading, what’s your favourite genre?

Oh wow!Looks like we have a lot in common, Reema! i too love to read because it takes me to far off places, far away from my world – a much needed respite at times. And I also love writing, music and walking. Without a night walk my day feels incomplete.. Apart from these three, i also love drawing/sketching, which helps me stay afloat. My hobbies really take me far away from my worries. They are like my therapists, that leave me felling rejuvenated!

Same pinch in all the hobbies except walking where I can include dancing which is on top of the list for me. Didn’t know you play sports..saw your pic on fb. Good going Reema.

Finding time for oneself via hobbies gets so diificult when we grow up; there is always some meeting or household emergency or something that needs to be done first. Time seems to shrink rather than expand when we grow up. Nice one Reems

I too love nature walks. Same pinch for sports as I too played Kho-kho and basketball, did skating. We should not leave our hobbies behind. Crafts top my list.
