You promised someone that there was something that you’d do for them and then you worked on it and ensured that they had what they wanted. May be to finish that project on time or may be help someone with something you knew?
Someday you promised someone that you would meet them. It was your only day off from work but you met them! You kept your promise.
And then throughout your life, you made some promises to others. Being the person that you are, you tried your best to keep most of those promises if not all of them.
But then there are some more promises that you made, promises that you constantly forget!
As a kid, didn’t you promise yourself to become the painter, the pilot, the writer when you grew up? Didn’t you tell yourself that you would love to get your hands all dirty with colours? Didn’t you tell yourself that someday you would fly high, may be go to space as well? What happened to that promise? Did you forget that? Or did life happen and you were lost keeping up the promises that you made to others and then ended up forgetting the ones you made to yourself?
You promised yourself that you would be happy, that you would do things that made you happy! But when faced with choices you didn’t follow your heart, you followed the herd.
May be sometimes it is good to sit down and think, to look back and to remember all the promises that you made especially to yourself. May be it is time that you begin to keep the promises you made to yourself. Maybe the time is now. Now is the time to keep all those promises and have no regrets. So what have you promised yourself?
