#AtoZChallenge : To the Universe

Dear Universe,
I’ve been in awe of you for a long time. The fascination started
when I was a little kid. When I would refuse to eat, I remember Mom used to
take me to the terrace and show me the moon and the stars. It looked so
beautiful and I always wanted to know more. One thing led to another and from
just admiring the moon and stars I started wondering about what they were.
The twinkling of the stars, the waxing and waning of the moon, the
eclipses all made my interest only grow. As a little girl all that I thought
about you was more of my imagination. But as I grew up, I learnt a lot about
you. And when I knew how vast you were I was amazed. Facts like the light that
I see from the stars right now is the light coming from them from years ago
made my interest in you increase. And I decided that I would become an
astronomer or an astronaut.
I kept reading more about you and everything that I read my
interest in you only grew. Those were the days when Internet to me was a luxury
that I couldn’t even dream about. Hence my source of information was mostly
newspaper articles and books. I remember that I used to collect newspaper
clippings and I even made a scrap book. When I had a science exhibition in
school, I even made a model demonstrating the birth of stars and yes I won.
Such was my obsession for you.
Sadly, I couldn’t take astronomy as my career and when I had to
let go. I tried but I just couldn’t find relevant courses and relevant
information to take you up as a full time career. But you know what I still
haven’t given up. I still read more about you. I still try to figure out why
things in you are the way they are.
“Look
up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see,
and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious.”
– Stephen Hawking

And this is what I will always do. Your mysteries will always
continue to make me wonder and think more about you. I may be insignificant in your
vastness, but I hope that I can make my insignificance less by being the best that
I can be.
Always in awe of you,
Reema
I’m taking up the #AtoZChallenge and my theme is “A letter for a letter”. So make sure you read

That was such a heartfelt letter Reema 🙂
Like Archana mentioned above, you can surely take up a course to study about the universe while working and fulfill your desire of knowing more while learning at depth.
The last line summed it up beautifully for me. We might be mere specks but our love for the universe must be felt the energies up above 🙂

  7. It's been a childhood dream for me to be an astronaut. Just for one day. Visit Venus and a few more stars, and enjoy the heavenly view. I still do hope that it comes true someday! 🙂
