A letter to myself

Dear me,
I hope you are doing well and even if you are not, I’m sure
that whatever problems you face will soon be solved. So  smile! Don’t
you know that you look pretty when you smile? So smile before you read further.
Life always has its share of ups and downs. There are
beautiful moments which you would wish would last longer. You remember them
always. But then there are those times when nothing seems right. It is then
when you begin to lose hope and begin to think badly of yourself. But wait!
Never do that. Sometimes things don’t go the way you want them to because maybe
that is the way they were meant to happen and maybe something good may come out
of it someday. So look at the brighter side of everything. I know it is hard
but haven’t you done a lot of things which you once thought were hard?
Keep dreaming. Keep hoping to be a better person every day.
You feel that you have no clue as to where your life is heading and what you want to
do with it. Sometimes it is okay to have no clue. Don’t judge yourself for it.
Take each day as it comes and then life one step at a time; try to convert your
dreams into goals. You may fail, but remember every time you fall you must rise.
Don’t dwell too much on the past. The past is long gone and
it will never come back no matter what you do. So make peace with the past.
Forgive the ones who have hurt you. Make amends with the ones whom you have
hurt. A heavy heart is not a burden worth carrying. The only thing that you can
take from the past is the lessons that you have learned.
Life is fast paced and most of the time you may be busy. But
then take time to live every moment. Life is short and putting something for
later when you can do it now is not such a great idea. Be grateful for the gift
of each day. Don’t waste time cribbing about the things that didn’t go right
but focus instead on making things better. Bring a smile on someone’s face and
spread cheer. Enjoy the beauty of nature and think about how everything in
nature works the way it does. Admire the skies; listen to the whisper of the
breeze. Dance in the rain and forget your pain. The beauty of the flowers, the
serenity of the lake, the breathtaking view from up the mountain are all there
to be appreciated. Enjoy them as you journey through life.
You came to this world alone and someday you will have to go
away from this world alone. People come into your life and go away. Time changes and so do people. But make
sure that the ones who matter always stay. Never be with people who don’t
accept you the way you are. Make new friends and share a laugh. Don’t forget
the people who were there for you when you needed them the most. Be there for
someone when they need you. Sometimes all they want would just be someone to
listen to what they have to say. Keeping everything to yourself will not help.
Share it with someone whom you trust; whose words you respect. When you feel
like crying, just cry instead of holding back the tears. But once you are done,
wipe away the tears and never let that thing hurt you anymore. There are times when
you have to be all alone. But remember being alone is different from being
lonely. Be your own best friend. Enjoy your own company.
The things in life are mostly simple. But it is we who
complicate things. Accept who you are, dream about who you want to be. Work
towards achieving it. The day you look back into your life, make sure you are
happy the way things have been and that you have no regrets. Love yourself.
 Keep smiling!
Lots of love,
Your best friend- You!
