Let me be me

They said, “You must do this, you must not do that,
You must not be thin, you must not be fat.
You are supposed to be this way,
For your life is governed by what people say.”
And I did what they said,
Walked on paths that everyone tread.
I have now become a clone,
I’ve forgotten the dreams I once called my own.
But I don’t want to be this way,
In my life I want to have a say.
I don’t want to just breathe, I want to live,
I don’t want a die a loser, I want to feel alive.
I am tired of following the road always taken,
I want to achieve my dreams that were once forsaken.
It is my life and I own its key,
Please let me be me!

  1. How truly said… We walk on paths created for us…!!
We are clones in every sense!

  2. I especially liked the second paragraph. I think we all fall into this in some way.
