Étoile filante #AtoZChallenge #NaPoWriMo

I often gazed at the night sky,

Hoping to see a shooting star.

But many a times with cloudy skies,

My days often ended in despair.

I wanted to catch a glimpse,

And wish upon a shooting star.

For I thought even with one wish fulfilled,

By the shooting star, life would be better.

I waited patiently with hope,

For that shooting star.

A few opportunities were missed,

But I knew that day wasn’t afar.

Time went by and so did life,

I couldn’t catch up for it had been long.

It was only then that I realized,

That I hadn’t understood the secret all along!

I could’ve been my own star,

And those missed opportunities,

Were the shooting stars,

That I hadn’t wished upon.

This is a double treat… lovely insightful poems and also words I honestly don’t know the meaning of (till you explain it at the end)

  2. A beautiful, meaningful verse yet again, Reema. Looks like a lot of us miss the shooting stars right in front of our eyes.

  3. Shalini says:

I absolutely loved the message you tried to convey through this poem. That use of the word ‘shooting star’ is just awe-inspiring. Well done, Reema <3

  4. Soumya says:

Always wish upon every star, shooting or not!

  5. Ranjini says:

Wow! I have always wanted to see a shooting star as well. Literally.
Figuratively, we do look at something and wish for it while opportunities pass by us unnoticed.

  6. Lovely poem and encouraging thought, Reema.
Be your own star & shine bright!
