Grief

Grief is a burden,

That you unwillingly carry,

But you can never let down.

Grief is a journey,

That you travel alone,

It is a journey that never ends.

Grief is that pain,

That hurts you day and night,

Making you wonder – what if?

Grief is that silent tear,

Whose pain you cannot understand,

Until you’ve shed one yourself.

The “What ifs” of life are the most merciless things. They bring in so much pain.

  2. Esha M Dutta says:

“Grief is that silent tear/Whose pain you cannot understand/Until you’ve shed one yourself.”

You summed it up so beautifully, Reema! Loved the poem. It is so true that unless one has been through it, one can never fully comprehend the full extent of grief.

  3. Anagha Yatin says:

Grief is definitely a journey, one that starts when the trust in one form or the other is broken. It takes one to the nadir of the darkest chambers of heart. And as you rightly said, one can understand it only if one has traveled on the path of grief. You conveyed the ocean of emotions in handful of lines Reema. Kudos!
