#WednesdayVerses : Different

different

I may not be,
The way you want me to be.
For you only see,
How different I turned out to be.

I never chose follow,
For I walked on paths different.
But with your judgement so hollow,
My success, to you was insignificant.

I was often made the reason for disgrace,
For with my ways you couldn’t agree.
But my differences I chose to embrace,
For they made me.

I will not be,
The way you want me to be.
For I will stand strong for you to see,
That I am born free.

#WednesdayVerses

As a part of our resolution to write more poetry in 2018, Vinay and I have started this weekly prompt which we’ve decided to call as Wednesday Verses. Each Wednesday, we’ll be writing a poem based on the prompt of the week, and sharing a linky. We invite you all to join us with your own poems on the prompt. Write on your blogs, and link up with #WednesdayVerses. Please add your post links to the linky only if you have written for the prompt. We are happy to have you rhyme with us.

Prompt #16 is “Different

  1. We all are born free and surely must be able to stay that way, without any disgrace, right??

  2. I loved these verses. Completely resonated with me. This is also in tune with the story of a movie I watched yesterday.

Our differences make us who we are! I live by this truth and believe we are all free to be whatever we wish to be. Joining you and Vinay this week, Reema. 🙂

  4. Sometimes it is worth it being straight on the face. It is much a relief to be the way we are than to follow just for the sake of it. Lovely poem, Reema. Missed these for a while, joining again with you guys!

  5. Shirley Corder says:

Beautiful and a true sentiment. Thanks for sharing. Thankful Thursday Week 21: Being thankful for GDRP takes a stretch!
