#WednesdayVerses : Return
Our paths crossed at destiny’s bidding,
And I was glad that we met.
But now I stand at the same old place waiting,
For you to return!
I look for the news of your arrival,
In the whisper of the wind.
For you are the hope for my survival,
The only one that I can find.
The wind blows of its own accord,
Causing a flicker of the flame of hope.
I still hold on, looking forward,
For signs of your return.
I look back at the memories we made,
For that is all I have now.
I wish I could turn back time and there we stayed,
If life could only allow.
I stand alone, gazing at the sky,
At the place where you promised we’d meet.
Or was that your way of saying goodbye,
My heart now skips a beat.

As a part of our resolution to write more poetry in 2018, Vinay and I have started this weekly prompt which we’ve decided to call as Wednesday Verses. Each Wednesday, we’ll be writing a poem based on the prompt of the week, and sharing a linky. We invite you all to join us with your own poems on the prompt. Write on your blogs, and link up with #WednesdayVerses. Please add your post links to the linky only if you have written for the prompt. We are happy to have you rhyme with us.
Prompt #14 is “Return”
thanks for sharing good article, i love the way you written good article and described them wonderfully with own words. Thanks once again for beautiful post.
Thank you!
Many mixed emotions here. A sailor lost at sea? A jilted lover? This could be so many things.
Yes! That’s left for the reader to assume. 🙂
Poignant. Something like a heartbreak with no answers as to why.
Yes, sometimes the why haunts us forever!
So beautifully rhymed and written!
I always forget about this. But, from this month on, I’ll do it for one Wednesday a month as I can’t do it every Wednesday due to pre-planned posts.
Thank you Soumya 🙂 Yes, please do when you can 🙂 Also, you dont have to post on a Wednesday. The linky is open till the following Sunday.
Hmmm. So many possibilities about what happened to him… but can feel her anxiety and eagerness as she continues to wait! Beautiful.
Thank you Vinay 🙂
