#WednesdayVerses : Return

Return

Our paths crossed at destiny’s bidding,
And I was glad that we met.
But now I stand at the same old place waiting,
For you to return!

I look for the news of your arrival,
In the whisper of the wind.
For you are the hope for my survival,
The only one that I can find.

The wind blows of its own accord,
Causing a flicker of the flame of hope.
I still hold on, looking forward,
For signs of your return.

I look back at the memories we made,
For that is all I have now.
I wish I could turn back time and there we stayed,
If life could only allow.

I stand alone, gazing at the sky,
At the place where you promised we’d meet.
Or was that your way of saying goodbye,
My heart now skips a beat.

#WednesdayVerses

As a part of our resolution to write more poetry in 2018, Vinay and I have started this weekly prompt which we’ve decided to call as Wednesday Verses. Each Wednesday, we’ll be writing a poem based on the prompt of the week, and sharing a linky. We invite you all to join us with your own poems on the prompt. Write on your blogs, and link up with #WednesdayVerses. Please add your post links to the linky only if you have written for the prompt. We are happy to have you rhyme with us.

Prompt #14 is “Return

  2. Alana says:

Many mixed emotions here. A sailor lost at sea? A jilted lover? This could be so many things.

  3. Poignant. Something like a heartbreak with no answers as to why.

  4. So beautifully rhymed and written!

I always forget about this. But, from this month on, I’ll do it for one Wednesday a month as I can’t do it every Wednesday due to pre-planned posts.

  5. Vinay Leo R. says:

Hmmm. So many possibilities about what happened to him… but can feel her anxiety and eagerness as she continues to wait! Beautiful.
