Is it my fault?

I was always told to be nice to people around and that I always did. A life of honesty I was asked to lead and I spoke the truth always. But then there were people who took me for granted and made fun of my values. And I can never forget that day when I was caught for a crime I didn’t commit but my friends did. I was only there to tell them that they were wrong and it would be better for them to do something to make the situation better. And they made the situation better- for themselves! When the police came there, they all escaped and I was the last one standing there. The police wouldn’t listen anything of what I wanted to say. And here I am languishing behind the bars only because I couldn’t prove that I was innocent. Was it really my fault that I told others to be good?

Quite a different take on the prompt word. I guess there are few who can't be changed, so it's not worth taking the effort. Not anyone's fault, but bad luck perhaps.
Yeah bad luck ruins lives some times!
It's not your fault for standing for what you believe and encouraging others to do what is right. It just may be the fault of others to ignore the truth. At times, truth usually is left standing alone.
Yes that is true!
So sad.
Yes 🙁
And people wonder why I have trust issues.
I too can't trust people easily! I tried trusting but ended up being hurt 🙁
Innocence is so hard to find these days that people mistake it for an act. It's really sad, but that is the truth. Also the world has this unique way of stripping one off their innocence.
Yes Soumya I agree with you! Many a times people lose their innocence because the world forces them to.
In this world it is difficult to prove what's right what's wrong, who's criminal who's innocent. Nice take on the prompt.
