#WednesdayVerses : The garden of life

garden of life

On a sunny day, with the sky washed in blue,
A gentle breeze blew,
I walked towards a garden,
And a journey I started.

Teeming with life everywhere,
I stood transfixed at the beauty there.
It was then that I pondered,
To find answers to questions I often wondered.

In the garden of life, who was I?
To find an answer, I did try.

Was I a flower, bright and colourful,
Spreading smiles and making the world wonderful?
Was I like the tree, reaching for the sky,
Yet firmly grounded, providing shade to those who come by?

Was I like the grass growing freely?
Or was I the lawn, growing within the confines completely?
Was I the thorny bush obstructing someone’s way?
Was I like the tender branches which with the wind swayed?

Was I the tiny plant, that grew,
Though chances of its survival were few?
Was my heart like the good soil, letting good grow,
Or was it like the rocky soil,
With nothing good to show?

In the garden of life, who was I?
To find an answer, I did try.

#WednesdayVerses

As part of our resolution to write more poetry in 2018, Vinay and I have started this weekly prompt which we’ve decided to call as Wednesday Verses. Each Wednesday, we’ll be writing a poem based on the prompt of the week, and sharing a linky. We invite you all to join us with your own poems on the prompt. Write on your blogs, and link up with #WednesdayVerses. Please add your post links to the linky only if you have written for the prompt. We are happy to have you rhyme with us.

Prompt #7 is “Garden”

    Nature always inspires, doesn’t it?

I would love to participate in prompts like this one. Do we need to finish our posts on Wednesday itself?

    Keep writing!

I think a bit of us is in everything, and a bit of everything thus is in us. 🙂 But while observing and contemplating, we are lost to that beauty too. Loved it.
