#WednesdayVerses : The course of laughter

laughter

On a day when in the air,
A whiff of nostalgia I catch,
I remember those moments, now rare,
And a walk down the memory lane, I snatch!

Sounds of laughter then echoed,
While we spoke about the things we did.
There were stories that had to be told,
For there were no secrets to be hid.

It often started with a giggle,
A tiny murmur here and there.
Till we held our stomachs in the middle,
Laughing loudly without a care!

Laughter, infectious as it is,
Always spread around.
Bringing at least a hint of smile with ease,
Even on the dullest face around.

But time passed by,
And we forgot to laugh.
For with our ambitions ever so high,
We’d no time to laugh!

What we haven’t realized,
Is that while we forgot,
Ever so slowly laughter died,
Buried under the weight of lies we sought.

But to laugh my friend,
Isn’t so hard.
Give it a moment and your worries will end,
Relax, let down your guard.

For laughter often starts with a giggle,
A tiny murmur here and there.
Till we hold our stomachs in the middle,
Laughing loudly without a care!

We are often so engrossed in making our careers that laughter fades away. It is only a smile that eases you when the surroundings are so stressed. You have written such beautiful lines.
