#WednesdayVerses : The course of laughter
On a day when in the air,
A whiff of nostalgia I catch,
I remember those moments, now rare,
And a walk down the memory lane, I snatch!
Sounds of laughter then echoed,
While we spoke about the things we did.
There were stories that had to be told,
For there were no secrets to be hid.
It often started with a giggle,
A tiny murmur here and there.
Till we held our stomachs in the middle,
Laughing loudly without a care!
Laughter, infectious as it is,
Always spread around.
Bringing at least a hint of smile with ease,
Even on the dullest face around.
But time passed by,
And we forgot to laugh.
For with our ambitions ever so high,
We’d no time to laugh!
What we haven’t realized,
Is that while we forgot,
Ever so slowly laughter died,
Buried under the weight of lies we sought.
But to laugh my friend,
Isn’t so hard.
Give it a moment and your worries will end,
Relax, let down your guard.
For laughter often starts with a giggle,
A tiny murmur here and there.
Till we hold our stomachs in the middle,
Laughing loudly without a care!

As part of our resolution to write more poetry in 2018, Vinay and I have started this weekly prompt which we’ve decided to call as Wednesday Verses. Each Wednesday, we’ll be writing a poem based on the prompt of the week, and sharing a linky. We invite you all to join us with your own poems on the prompt. Write on your blogs, and link up with #WednesdayVerses. Please add your post links to the linky only if you have written for the prompt. We are happy to have you rhyme with us.
Prompt for #WednesdayVerses 3 is “Laughter” So go ahead and add your dose of laughter!

True that, Reema. We get so serious as we grow that we firget to stop and smell the roses along the way. Laughter lightens the load and adds cheer to our days. Lovely poem.
Thank you 🙂
lovely poem and you had expressed your emotions so beautifully. and it is so true that after being a grown up we forget to enjoy tiny moments of happiness. thanks for reminding.
I’m glad you liked it! Thank you 🙂
Nothing like having a hearty laugh. It does sadden when I think have we forgotten that hearty laugh, is it really so hard to laugh from our heart and stomachs? I wish we shed that heaviness we keep bearing.
Yes, it is sad but so true! Wish we could laugh more often!

Love your poetry Reema. I always admire your poetry. Its a speciality that you write it at ease. And this one definitely made me think up of the loud laughter we have every once in a while.
Thank you so much Jayanthy 🙂 Your comments make my day!

Lovely verse and a wonderful message, Reema! I enjoyed reading your poem. A life without laughter is no life at all!
Thank you so much 🙂
Lovely poem, Reema. Laughing out loud till the stomach and cheeks hurt do wonders. We need many more laughing moments, don’t we?
Yes, we most certainly do! Thank you 🙂
We are often so engrossed in making our careers that laughter fades away. It is only a smile that eases you when the surroundings are so stressed. You have written such beautiful lines.
Yes, a smile, a hearty laugh can do wonders for our mood! Thank you 🙂
