#MondayMusings : On New Year’s Day

It is time again to get a brand new calendar for a new year is here. At the end of every year I tell myself “This year went by too fast!” And it holds good for 2017 too! While the New Year is a time to turn over a new leaf and start afresh, it is also time to learn lessons from the year gone by and become a better you!

2017 for me has been a mixed year filled with a lot of varied experiences. From writing and getting a book published and becoming a Goodreads Author to doing a poetry challenge, from shifting to a place of my own to shifting back within a few months, from vowing to exercise to getting hospitalized for a couple of days for the first time, the list can go on for 2017 had a lot of things for me. Though I felt 2017 went by too quickly, when I look back at all the things that it has taught me, it seems like it was a long one! I travelled more than I usually do(which is very less) and had some unusual experiences. I attended a lit fest, blogger meets, book launches! I saw some beautiful sunsets and sunrises, enjoyed nature’s many gifts. I read more books in 2017 than I have read in any other year. But there were also times when things weren’t good. There were times I cried and times when I just didn’t know what to do. There were friends who no longer are friends, close friends who moved to different countries and new people whom I met this year and have become pretty good friends!Β

Quite a year 2017 was right? Looking forward to 2018, the year I complete a quarter of a century on Earth, I hope to make the best use of it and make it memorable. If I have to pick a word for 2018, it has to be “Me”. I am not being narcissistic, but sometimes I feel I have to do things my way and there is no better time than now to do it. I am not a person who makes a lot of resolutions at the beginning of the year only to be forgotten within a few days or weeks. For me, this year is all about me – about finding time for myself, doing things I love, loving and accepting myself and being a better version of me. There’s no use thinking about things that didn’t go my way and crying over them. This year I hope to learn from past experience but not dwell on them for long and hence spoil my mood.Β

I look at the New Year with hope, with dreams that I will work on turning to reality. What are you looking forward to this year? Let me know!

Here’s wishing you a very happy and prosperous New Year 2018.
