Simple little things

Serendipity, Simple little things

I hear the chirping of birds as open my eyes when the first rays of the morning sun greet me. I wake up. It definitely is a good morning.Β As I walk, the wind blows ever so gently carrying with it the fragrance of the freshly bloomed flowers.Β There is a nip in the air. But the warmth radiating from the smiles of the people around me, both known and unknown are enough. I’m happy. After a long grumpy day at work the previous day I wasn’t expecting such a pleasant morning. Serendipity?
Staying away from home is never easy. No matter how strong you are, there are moments when loneliness engulfs you. You miss home. Then like magic, your phone rings. “Are you okay, dear?”, says mom on the other end. Serendipity? Or maybe Ma just knows.
One fine day, I decide to just walk with no destination in mind. I look around and try to absorb the sights that greet me. The busy streets, the noisy shops, the never ending sea of people are not my kind of a thing. But I still walk. At the corner, I see a book store. I walk in look around and find a book. Not just any book, it was the one that I was looking for for a while now. Yes, it has to be serendipity.
I look at my phone again. It is a picture. I’ve already looked it a lot of times. But I haven’t able to place it. The face looks familiar as though I’ve known the person all along. But the name doesn’t ring a bell. A known stranger. That is the conclusion I arrive at. But as days pass by, there is no stranger for there is so much in common. We talk. A story begins. Destiny at its serendipitous best!
Life is full of little surprises. But with the way we are leading our lives these days, it is easy to miss these little surprises. It is a pity that we don’t appreciate the serendipity that life gifts us on our journey.
