Home coming

lamps, light, home coming

She lit the lamps though it wasn’t dark. She’d prepared all his favourite dishes and had meticulously arranged them on the table the way he liked it. Tonight was special. She was going to see him after so long! She waited patiently while pouring more oil into the lamps to keep them burning. Eventually, the food went cold, the wind blew off the lamps. She hadn’t slept a wink. In the morning, he finally came.
“Son, where were you?”
“I was out with my friends”
“But I was waiting”
“Stop bothering me. I need rest”
He slammed the door shut.

Breaks my heart. At times it feels that having children is so over rated.

Well, this is quite a realistic scene. Children do it without realizing how hurt the parent feels but then at some point even parents need to step back and give their children some space. Wonderful take on the prompt, Reema!

Yes, some times the children don’t understand what parents feel. We are all guilty of this some time or the other. Thank you Vinodini 🙂
