#WednesdayVerses : On a journey

journey

The journey began slowly,
And then began to pick up the pace.
I now gaze outside lazily,
Looking at the blank space.

The train moves along,
Speeding past the empty fields.
As my mind wanders along,
The meandering ways of memories.

There are some memories,
That I want to hold on,
And then there are others,
That are better forgotten.

As I think about the past,
I wonder what lay ahead.
For unlike this train that travels fast,
I’ve no clue about a destination in my head.

For so long I’ve travelled,
On a train that I’d planned to take.
But what if I could get down and change,
And make it a journey that I always wanted to make?

Often in life, I don’t know,
Where I am going.
But does it make my life matter any less,
If it is the journey that counts?

#WednesdayVerses

As a part of our resolution to write more poetry in 2018, Vinay and I have started this weekly prompt which we’ve decided to call as Wednesday Verses. Each Wednesday, we’ll be writing a poem based on the prompt of the week, and sharing a linky. We invite you all to join us with your own poems on the prompt. Write on your blogs, and link up with #WednesdayVerses. Please add your post links to the linky only if you have written for the prompt. We are happy to have you rhyme with us.

Prompt #18 is “Train”

Lovely lines, Reema. I’m not great at poetry, so I’ll cheer you on from the sidelines.

  2. Lovely lines with some wonderful imagery and a great message. Unfortunately, we don’t know what lies ahead in this journey for us…nothing is predictable and there isn’t all that much we can control. But we can keep travelling on that train 🙂
