#AtoZChallenge : Lazy

feeling lazy

The rays of the sun which are falling on my face through my window, wake me up. I hunt for my cellphone and look at the time. It is 8 am. Saturday. Too early. I pull the drapes and see that the window is covered and I go back to sleep.

The constant ringing of my phone disturbs me from my dream world again. Mom won’t call me until afternoon on a Saturday. I rub my eyes and check the time. 10.15 am.

My phone is buzzing with notifications and all the missed calls are from my friends. Just when I’m about to keep my phone aside and go back to sleep, one of my friends calls me again.

“Hello” I say in my sleepy voice.
“Heloooo Alana! Wassup?”, she yells in her overenthusiastic voice.
“Nothing. I just woke up.”
“What plans for today?”
“Nothing”
“Shall we go shopping?”
“No I don’t want to”
“What’s wrong with you?”
“Nothing. Okay, got to go back to sleep”

I go back to sleep again.

Finally I wake up around lunch time. I brush my teeth and then hunt for something to eat. I also check my phone which has been buzzing with notifications since morning. So many messages! So many plans being made. But what is my  plan? To do nothing.

Today I just don’t feel like going out or doing anything. All I want to do is just sleep. The week has been hard enough on me and today I just want to sleep.

Call me lazy, but you see I just don’t have the drive to do anything.

Oh did I forget to mention, that last weekend, I had a long list of things to do, places to visit and all of the weekend went by in doing all those things. I enjoyed it a lot.

Do you doubt if I am the same person?

Yes, there are times when I have many plans for the weekend and on days when I am interested in doing all of that, I’m happy that I did those things.

But then there are days like today when I absolutely don’t have the mind to do anything. Sleeping all day is what I want to do. Oh I may read a book in bed. But that is about it.

Eat-Sleep-Read-Repeat.

Now please I’ll go off to sleep while you can listen to Bruno Mars singing about how he feels like not doing anything- just like me!

I’m participating in the A to Z Challenge and all through April I’ll be writing about the Life and Times of a Twenty something! What are you best memories or expectations from your twenties? Let me know in the comments.

I can guarantee that the laziness doesn’t disappear when you grow older. Take it from a woman who is almost 39 😉 Yes, Alana! I empathise. Get back under those covers, girl!

  2. yup.. sounds exactly like me! 🙂 Most of my holidays these days end up like this.

I call it blobbing out. And I love it.

  4. This is exactly what I go through on some weekends…my very thoughts being, “isn’t it normal to want to do nothing at all once in a while????” Feeling better now that i am not the only one who feels that way!! Nice post!!

  5. err, I’m in my late 50’s and loved this. Probably have too many days like that. Had much fewer like that in my 20’s, too much going on. Happier to take life slower these days. Found you through twitter. Great post.

That sounds like me right now. Some days are like that, whether you’re in your 20s or 40s. 😉

  7. A peek into a day in a 20 -somethings life. Nothing changes as you grow older, is that assuring or terrifying?:)

That is a luxury I miss dearly. Something that you can enjoy in 20’s and dream about in 30’s

Giving yourself a lazy day once in a while is what I call indulgence! Doing nothing, wasting time and yet not an ounce of regret! That’s the beauty of doing it in your 20’s!

Same here Reema…it’s just that I can’t sleep all day but I feel so lazy sometimes that I don’t feel like going out but just laid back

  11. Hahaha! It is still the same with me dear though mommyhood limits the perks. I enjoyed reading this post ❤

  12. Laziness is next to godliness? Oh wait…that’s cleanliness. Nothing’s clean because I’m lazy!

  13. Cheers to our lazy asses! Hehe.. I know how that feeling is. Of doing just nothing and lazying at home.. Best feeling ever!

Oh I still love those days when I can just get to sleep and do nothing. But with time..u cannot do it more often as there are so many things to do and so many people who are dependent on you. (Life of a mom) 🙂

One more favorite song of mine 🙂 Along with reading good posts, I get to hear good songs too. So it is a double treat 🙂
And as for the laziness, I am with Alana. Somedays when all my friends go out, I prefer staying in, sleeping all day 😛
