I wish I were
As a little child I wished,
That I’d become an adult soon.
And now I think life was better as a kid,
Will someone please grant me this boon?
While growing up I wished I’d be famous,
An astronaut, a rockstar or maybe even an author!
And then when I saw the people in pain around us,
I wished I was a doctor.
I also wished I were the owner of an endless library,
Where the new releases magically made their way without ordering!
I sometimes wished I’d be someone’s secret diary,
What would they write I’m wondering!
I sometimes wish I were blessed with superpowers,
To eat a lot of chocolates without getting fat!
And also I wished for a garden full of flowers,
It would be heaven on earth, if with a book there I sat!
When reality is tough,
I wish were in an alternate universe.
Where everyone has enough,
Where there are plenty of blessings and no curse!
And sometimes I wish I could walk into platform nine three fourth,
Or maybe reside in Baker Street!
And in time I wish I could travel back and forth,
Maybe an older or younger me I could meet!
There are times when you are forced to follow what others say,
The you want to, they won’t let you be!
But know that I am special in my own way,
I wish I were just me!
This post is written for Blogchatter’s prompt for the week- I wish I were
I could wish for so much. When I was young, time was endless. Now, it passes at the speed of light.
Yes, I feel the same!
I wish this to..you have written it so well
Thank you 🙂
‘I wish I were just me!’ Beautifully penned down Reema.
Thank you 🙂
I, too, wish I were a child again, enjoying a carefree life, living with mom 24/7,and indulging in games that took no time to bring a smile to my face! 🙂
That would be so awesome right!
So very beautiful. I wish I were a child again just like Shilpa. No worries in the world then. 🙂
Yes, everything would be so much better!
Sigh! once again Reems, you write so so well woman! Some of the lines were just magic – you really thread the words well!! Kudos
Thank you Shalini! Your comments make my day 🙂
I love your last paragraph the most, Reema. That is one wish we all have, and the way to be!:)
Thank you Mayuri 🙂
beautifully written Reema! Loved the rhyme! With so many wishes and so little time, we can live them all only through a written rhyme! 🙂
Thank you Omkar and yes our list of wishes is so long that sometimes only words and books can make it reality!
I felt i was speaking this.
Truly wonderful
Thank you 🙂
Reema this poem resonated the most with me. The trajectory of thoughts that led you in the end to believe that being you is better than any other thing is what I live through each day 🙂
Good to know that Richa! No matter what , we always need to be who we are.
We wish so many things each day and yet stay contended with what we have. A beautiful poem, Reema. Loved it. 🙂
Thank you Rohan 🙂
Arent are life so full of wishes and desires? How I wish I could be a child again and relive my childhood. How I wish I had the strength to tackle all difficulties magically…. The wishes just go on…..
Yes indeed! Our wish list never ends!
Reema, this poem is one of best of your masterpieces! It’s like you just read my mind and penned it. Mixed emotions, desires ending up into just one. 🙂
I can read minds you see! Thanks dearie
Love this poem Reema! No matter how many different things I wish I was, in the end, I am happiest being me!
Yes being yourself gives the greatest joy!
We can change our lives. We can do, have, and be exactly what we wish.
Yes we can!
What a beautiful poem Reema! Whimsical and dreamy! Indeed I wish for so many of the things you wished for too…can’t we just slip into the pages of fantasy we read and dream of?
Thank you Kala! And yes I always want to be in the place where the book that I am currently reading is set.
