I wish I were

I wish I were

As a little child I wished,
That I’d become an adult soon.
And now I think life was better as a kid,
Will someone please grant me this boon?

While growing up I wished I’d be famous,
An astronaut, a rockstar or maybe even an author!
And then when I saw the people in pain around us,
I wished I was a doctor.

I also wished I were the owner of an endless library,
Where the new releases magically made their way without ordering!
I sometimes wished I’d be someone’s secret diary,
What would they write I’m wondering!

I sometimes wish I were blessed with superpowers,
To eat a lot of chocolates without getting fat!
And also I wished for a garden full of flowers,
It would be heaven on earth, if with a book there I sat!

When reality is tough,
I wish were in an alternate universe.
Where everyone has enough,
Where there are plenty of blessings and no curse!

And sometimes I wish I could walk into platform nine three fourth,
Or maybe reside in Baker Street!
And in time I wish I could travel back and forth,
Maybe an older or younger me I could meet!

There are times when you are forced to follow what others say,
The you want to, they won’t let you be!
But know that I am special in my own way,
I wish I were just me!

What a beautiful poem Reema! Whimsical and dreamy! Indeed I wish for so many of the things you wished for too…can’t we just slip into the pages of fantasy we read and dream of?
