There’s often a blast from the past,
Reminding you of how things were.
Lost in a bag of memories so vast,
You realize many things are now a blur.
There were so many things,
That you wanted to do.
You wanted to soar high on those little wings,
For your dreams were never few.
But then you let yourself to be pulled back,
By reasons that no longer seem real.
And now when you think why you lost track,
It all seems too trivial.
You wish you could turn back to the past,
Perhaps changing a thing or two.
But now it leaves you aghast,
With a pain that reminds of how those days flew.
Though at times with anguish your heart screams,
You let go for now you’ve grown.
For no longer do those dreams,
Feel like they are your own.
From not yet to no longer,
You know you’ve come a long way.
The journey has made you wiser,
To live every single day.
As a part of our resolution to write more poetry in 2018, Vinay and I have started this weekly prompt which we’ve decided to call Wednesday Verses. Each Wednesday, we’ll be writing a poem based on the prompt of the week, and sharing a linky. We invite you all to join us with your own poems on the prompt. Write on your blogs, and link up with #WednesdayVerses. Please add your post links to the linky only if you have written for the prompt. We are happy to have you rhyme with us. Prompt #25 is “No longer”.
