Poetry in the year gone by #PoetryPositive #BlogchatterProjects
If there is one thing about my writing that has been a constant this year, it has to be poetry. I have already written about my journey with poetry, but as this year draws to a close, I want to look back on how poetry has been a constant this year.
Some time in May, when I was struggling to write again after the A to Z Challenge, I remembered the 100 happy days challenge. I thought why not do something like that with poetry. When I searched for #100daysofpoetry on Instagram, I saw that it was already being used. I decided that I would take up the challenge as well.
There were plenty of reasons why I took up the challenge. The most important one being that I wanted to write regularly. I barely found any time to write on the blog during the week. Instagram seemed more doable. Thus began a journey of writing a poem everyday for 100 days.
I tried different things with poetry. Some times I picked up a picture and I wrote what came to my mind when I saw the picture. Then there were times when I just put the text in an image. Some times I borrowed others pictures, there were times I used my own. I managed to complete the 100 days of poetry!
But when those 100 days were over, I knew I would miss writing poetry. That’s when I decided to continue writing poetry everyday!
Just when I made the decision of continuing post the 100 poems, I fell ill and I was hospitalized. But what I missed most that time was writing poetry! Yes, that’s how much poetry had become a part of me. Once I was better, I picked up from where I left and began writing poetry almost everyday.
When I look back now, poetry has helped me a lot this year. Writing everyday after a long day at work, worked like a therapy. It helped deal with my feelings. There were times when reading my old poems gave me hope. That’s when I decided to write more positive poems. That’s how #PoetryPositive happened!
I will continue spreading positivity around through my poetry during the next year as well. Do you want to join me?
Last few days of the year remain. You can count your blessings in the form of poetry and share it with the hashtag #PoetryPositive . Looking forward to reading your poem 🙂
