100 happy days- Day 1-10

You are all familiar with those “Happiness is…… ” pictures. But more often than not we tend to focus more on the negative things than the positive ones. We seek happiness always in the bigger moments of life rather than enjoying the little joys that life has to offer us. We seem to think of happiness as an end result of something- but we fail to recognize the fact that many times the means give us more joy. We tend to make happiness like something that is ready made and can bought off the shelf, but the reality is that it is we who must make ourselves happy.Life isn’t all easy- there are moments of happiness, there are moments of sorrow and then there are moments when nothing seems right and everything is a mess.
When you first read the title of this post you must have wondered what this 100 happy days is all about. Some of you may know and some of may not know. It is basically a challenge for 100 days to list something that made us happy- one thing for each of the 100 days. One thing per day? Sounds easy? Trust me it is not! But you learn a lot from these 100 days- well I have learned a lot from these 10 days that I have been through. I started this challenge on an impulse- things did not seem right to me and I kept feeling sad. I had read about this challenge long time ago but never really thought of taking it up. And then when all was sad and gloomy I decided to take it up because I wanted to be happy- I wanted to focus more on the positives. So 4/4/14 was when I started. Here is what made me happy during the past 10 days.
Day 1:

A new dress for me πŸ˜› Posing crazily! Yeah there is an extra hand visible. But well life is not perfect right? Enjoyed the moment this picture was taken.

Day 2:

Seeing my picture in the newspaper. I had seen it before when my friend had whatsapped me a pic of the newspaper article, but the feeling that I got when I actually held the newspaper in my hands was awesome.

Day 3:

A bowl full of water melon on a hot summer day! What better way than this to beat the heat?

Day 4:

Ice cream anyone? Yum! When does ice cream not make you happy? πŸ˜€

Day 5:

After so many hot, sunny days comes the rain! A wave of relief from the sweltering heat! Felt like dancing in the rain!

Day 6:

Remembering the old times with a friend! So much to talk, so much to listen to. How time flies by!

Day 7:

Appreciation that follows for a job well done. Nothing makes you truly happen than when you get honest appreciation.

Day 8:

A thank you gift from my beloved juniors for a little help that I did. It wasn’t really a big deal of help that I did. But they were thankful for it. I was touched! Gratitude is indeed the best attitude.

Day 9:

The newsletter I was working on finally sees the light of day! All those days of hard work finally pays off when people appreciate the work done. The start is always difficult and we were successful in getting it to start!

Day 10:

A Sunday but not a holiday- sounds so sad! After 2 mock interviews on a Sunday (It’s another story that both of them went well! Sad that they were just mock interviews!) , sitting back and enjoying an episode each of the F.R.I.E.N.D.S and The Big Bang Theory is indeed a happy feeling!

So those were the first days about my challenge. It was not easy to focus on the happy things, there were many things that made me sad as well. But it was my choice to focus on these happy things more.

John Barrymore said, “Happiness often sneaks in through a door you did not know you left open”. So keep smiling and be happy always πŸ™‚ Smile please.. πŸ™‚
